MAJ GEN IANB PERERA RWP USP ndu psc VISITS 9(V) ENGINEER SERVICES REGIMENT

The 9 (V) Engineer Services Regiment had the distinct honor of hosting a visit from Major General Buddhika Perera RWP USP ndc psc, the Military Secretary and the Colonel Commandant of the Corps of Engineer Services. The visit, which took place on 28 July 2024 marked a pivotal moment for the regiment, as Colonel Commandant engaged with the officers and other ranks, gaining firsthand insights into their operations and achievements.

Visiting Colonel Commandant was warmly welcomed by the Commanding Officer of 9 (V) Engineer Services Regiment Lt Col JKMRK Ranasinghe CES, along with all Officers, and other ranks.

The visit commenced with a Guard Turnout followed by the Commanding Officer’s comprehensive briefing on the current operational and administration commitment of the unit. Afterward, a group photograph was taken along with the officers of the unit and then a sapling was planted to mark his visit.

Later, the Colonel Commandant addressed all ranks and stressed the value of professionalism whilst preserving the highest standards of discipline during their career and then had an informal interaction with troops over a cup of tea.

The Colonel Commandant conducted an inspection of the camp compound, paying particular attention to the welfare facilities available to the soldiers. He also took this as an opportunity to interact with officers, other ranks, and civil staff of the 9(V) Engineer Services Regiment.

Finally, Colonel Commandant left commemorative notes in the Visitors’ Book as a symbolic gesture.

The Deputy Centre Commandant Corps of Engineer Services, Colonel MSD Perera USP ptsc and Adjutant RHQ CES also took part in the visit.
