Major General Jagath Gunawardena assumed office as the 55th Chief of Staff of the Army on 01 June 2020 during a simple ceremony at his office in the Army Headquarters, amid religious observances.
Major General Jagath Gunawardena was the 11th Col Comdt of Corps of Engineer Services from 11 October 2018 to 09 August 2019. His unwavering support dedicated and distinguished service kept the flag of Corps of Engineer Services flying high and shall be engraved in gold in the history of the Corps of Engineer Services.
