The New Year Celebration of the Corps of Engineer Services was held on grand scale at the 4th (Vol) Engineer Services Regiment’s premises in Panadura on 17 April 2019 ,with the participation of large number of Officers and Other Ranks. Maj Gen H J S Gunawardena RSP USP ndc psc , the Master General Ordnance and Colonel Commandant CES graced the occasion as the Chief Guest. The New Year Ceremony was followed by number of traditional games and entertainment events for the CES Troops and their family members including marathon races , bicycle races , grease-pole climbing, tug of war, pot cracking , selection of the ‘Avurudu Kumari’) and ‘Avurudu Kumaraya’, eye-placing on the elephant , bun-eating etc. Brig R Ganegoda psc the Director Engineer Services , Col K M S Kumara the Centre Commandant CES , Col S N Kithulgoda USP the Deputy Centre Comdt CES , CES Senior Officer, Officers, large number of Other Ranks and their family members participated in this event.
The Col Comd , Mrs Sagara Gunawardene, the President CES Seva Vanitha Branch , several senior officers and members of CES Seva Vanitha Branch gave away gifts to the winners in different events and competitions and the New Year Ceremony was ended with Musical Evening.
