Major General H J S Gunawardene RSP USP ndc psc assumed duties as the 11th Colonel Commandant of the Corps of Engineer Services on 11Oct 2018 at the Corps of Engineer Services Regimental Headquarters.
Upon arrival, the new Colonel Commandant was warmly welcomed by Col K M S Kumara the Centre Commandant CES at the main entrance of Corps of Engineer Services Regimental Headquarters.
In accordance with military traditions a Guard Turnout and a colourful Ceremonial Parade was accorded in honour of new Colonel Commandnat. Amidst religious observances Major General H J S Gunawardene placed his signature in an official document to symbolically signify the acceptance of the new office.
After attending the all ranks Tea Party he addressed the CES Officers at the Officers' Mess and hereafter the Colonel Commandant addressed All Ranks and shared his views with them.
Presently Major General H J S Gunawardene also holds the appointment of Master General Ordnance.
