The Corps of Engineer Services bade farewell to Maj Gen K A P J Ratnayake Lsc the Colonel Commandant CES on 09 Oct 2018 who is to be retired from the Army on 10 Oct 2018 after rendering a 28 years of exemplary and distinguished service to the Corps of Engineer Services ,Sri Lanka Army and the Nation.
He was warmly welcomed by Col K M S Kumara , the Centre Comdt CES at the Main Entrance of the Corps of Engineer Services Regimental Headquarters and a guard of honour was accorded in honour of Maj Gen Jagath Rathnayake which was followed by a colourful Ceremonial Parade. Thereafter he appeared for group photograph with Officers and Other Ranks and addressed all the Officers present at the CES Officers' Mess.
He also paid a visit to WOs' and Sgts' Mess and addressed the Warrant Officers and Sergeants.
Thereafter he attended the All Ranks Tea Party and shared his thoughts with the Officers and Other Ranks partaken. The event culminated with a street lining given to Major General Jagath Rathnayake with farewell bids "Jaya Sri"by Officers and Other Ranks lined up in a row before he departed from the Regimental Headquarters of the Corps of Engineer Services as the outgoing Colonel Commandant.
On 10 Oct 2018 , a Farewell Dinner was hosted at the Corps of Engineer Services Regimental Headquarters in honour of Maj Gen K A P J Ratnayake Lsc with the participation of large number of Officers and their spouses.
