Considering the importance of supplying subsidized food items to both Army and civil personnel in the area, the Corps of Engineers Services (CES) inaugurated its ‘Creators’ Welfare Shop’ as the first phase of the newly-constructed ground floor of a three storied building.
It was opened in a simple ceremony by Major General E.M.M Ambanpola, Colonel Commandant, CES at the invitation of the CES Centre Commandant on 10 April 2015 on the eve of the Sinhala and Tamil New Year.
The new welfare shop supplies all food commodities and essentials at concessionary rates and remains open till late in the evening.
The opening event was attended by Brigadier P.S.M Perera, CES Centre Commandant, Colonel N.P.K Jayawardena, Deputy Centre Commandant - CES, senior officers and other rankers.
