The 8 (V) Engineer Services Regiment had the distinct honor of hosting a significant visit from Major General IANB Perera RWP USP ndu psc, the Military Secretary and the Colonel Commandant of the Corps of Engineer Services. The visit, which took place on 02 July 2024 marked a pivotal moment for the regiment, as Colonel Commandant engaged with the officers and personnel, gaining firsthand insights into their operations and achievements.
Maj Gen Buddhika Perera was warmly welcomed by the Commanding Officer of 8 (V) Engineer Services Regiment Lt Col MR Vidyarathne CES, all officers, and other ranks.
The visit commenced with a Guard turnout showcasing the military decipline of the soldier followed by the Commanding Officer’s comprehensive briefing on the current operational and administration commitment of the unit. Thereafter a sapling was planted to mark his visit and a group photograph was taken along with the officers of the unit.
Later, Colonel Commandant was accompanied to all ranks tea and interaction session with the participants, fostering a sense of unity and camaraderie among the attendees. There after the Colonel Commandant addressed all ranks and stressed the value of professionalism whilst preserving the highest standards of discipline during their career.
The Colonel Commandant conducted an inspection of the camp compound, paying particular attention to the welfare facilities available to the soldiers. He also took this as an opportunity to interact with officers, other ranks, and civil staff of the 8 (V) Engineer Services Regiment.
At the end of the inspection, Finally, Colonel Commandant left commemorative notes in the Visitors’ Book as a symbolic gesture, marking Maj Gen Buddhika Perera's inaugural visit to 8 (V) ESR.
The Deputy Centre Commandant Corps of Engineer Services, Colonel MSD Perera USP ptsc also took part in the visit.
