MAJOR GENERAL IANB PERERA RWP USP ndu psc ASSUMED DUTIES AS THE 15th COLONEL COMMANDANT OF THE CORPS OF ENGINEER SERVICES

Major General IANB Perera RWP USP ndu psc assumed office as the 15^th Colonel Commandant of the Corps of Engineer Services on Tuesday (21^st May) at Regimental Headquarters, CES.

The incoming Colonel Commandant, Major General IANB Perera RWP USP ndu psc was warmly welcomed by the Centre Commandant CES, Brigadier KL Munasinghe USP at the main entrance of Corps of Engineer Services Regimental Headquarters. Then Major General IANB Perera RWP USP ndu psc was accorded a guard turnout followed by the laying of a wreath as a floral tribute to the brave fallen war heroes of the Corps of Engineer Services. Thereafter in accordance with military traditions, a colourful guard of honour was awarded as a salute to the incoming Colonel Commandant.

Subsequently, the Colonel Commandant placed his signature on an official document amidst religious observances and invoked blessings upon the 15^th Colonel Commandant of the Corps of Engineer Services, to signify the formal acceptance of the new office. Afterward, the Colonel Commandant posed for a group photograph with officers of the Corps of Engineer Services followed by planting a sapling to commemorate the day.

In line with the formal proceedings of the event, the Colonel Commandant addressed the troops and then he hosted the tea reception arranged for all ranks where he interacted with the troops. Then he addressed the officers of CES emphasizing his vision on his appointment and he stressed the importance of career progression of officers. The day’s proceedings were concluded after lunch with all officers at the Regimental Officers’ mess.
