MAJOR GENERAL H J S GUNAWARDENA RSP VSV USP ndc psc THE COLONEL COMMANDANT CORPS OF ENINGEER SERVICES ASSUMES OFFICE AS THE 17TH COLONEL COMMANDANT OF THE CORPS OF SRI LANKA ENGINEERS

Major General Jagath Gunawardena RSP VSV USP ndc psc who is presently holding the appointments of Commander Security Force(Wanni) and Colonel Commandant Corps of Engineer Services assumed office as the 17th Colonel Commandant of the Corps of Sri Lanka Engineers during a charming ceremony held at Headquarters of the Corps of Sri Lanka Engineers on 25 July 2019 and in accordance with military customs and formalities , he was greeted with Military honours and ceremonials before a large gathering of Senior Officers, Officers and Other Ranks.

Major General Jagath Gunawardena on his arrival at the Headquarters of the Corps of Sri Lanka Engineers, was warmly welcomed by the Centre Commandant, Brigadier Ravindra Dias and accorded with a Guard Turnout. Afterwards, Colonel Commandant laid a floral wreath at the War Heroes’ monument to pay his tribute to the fallen war heroes of the Corps and subsequently, he was bestowed with a Ceremonial Parade.

Thereafter, the newly appointed Colonel Commandant, Major General Jagath Gunawardena placed his signature on the taking over documents marking the assumption of new Office amidst chanting of Pirith by “Maha Sangha” in the presence of Senior Officers and the staff of Corps Headquarters. After taking over duties, Major General Jagath Gunawardena had a meeting with Senior Officers and attended for a Tea with All Ranks at the Convention Centre.

As the next event of the day’s ceremony, Colonel Commandant addressed All Ranks and shared his views. As the final event of the day, the newly appointed Colonel Commandant had a meeting with all Commanding Officers and Regimental Sergeant Majors of the Corps of Sri Lanka Engineers.
