MAJOR GENERAL H J S GUNAWARDENA RSP VSV USP ndc psc THE COLONEL COMMANDANT CORPS OF ENINGEER SERVICES ASSUMES DUTIES AS THE 18TH COMMANDER SECURITY FORCE (WANNI)

Major General Jagath Gunawardena RSP VSV USP ndc psc the Colonel Commandant Corps of Engineer Services assumed duties as the new Commander Security Force (Wanni) on 04 July 2019. In accordance with military traditions, the new Commander Security Force (Wanni) was accorded with a Guard Turnout at the entrance to the premises of Headquarters Security Force (Wanni). Thereafter he offered floral tributes at the War Heroes Monument and commemorated the fallen war heroes. In honour of the incoming Security Force Commander (Wanni) a formal Guard of Honour was bestowed by the troops of 8 Field Engineers Regiment and he was received by the General Officer Commanding of 56 Division Major General H P Seneviratne VSV USP ndu and Brigadier General Staff of Security Force Headquarters (Wanni) Brigadier H P Ranasinghe RWP RSP ndc near the parade ground.

After the formal military honours, Major General Jagath Gunawardena RSP VSV USP ndc psc auspiciously took over duties as the 18th Commander of Security Force (Wanni) amidst religious observances. In order to mark the assumption of office, the Commander Security Force (Wanni) planted a mango sapling in front of the Main Office Complex and joined an all rank tea party organized at the Other Ranks’ Mess.

The first All Ranks address by the newly appointed Commander Security Force (Wanni) taken place at the Headquarters Auditorium with the presence over 800 troops representing all under Command Formations to Security Force (Wanni).
