MAJ GEN LANKA AMARAPALA RWP RSP ndc psc VISITED THE 8 ENGINEER SERVICES REGIMENT

The 8 Engineer Services Regiment had the distinct honor of hosting a significant visit from Major General Lanka Amarapala RWP RSP ndc psc, the Director General of Financial Management, and the Colonel Commandant of the Corps of Engineer Services. The visit, which took place on 27 November 2023 marked a pivotal moment for the regiment, as Colonel Commandant engaged with the officers and personnel, gaining firsthand insights into their operations and achievements. This was the first-ever visit done by a Colonel Commandant of Corps of Engineer Services to 8 Engineer Services Regiment.

Maj Gen Lanka Amarapala was warmly welcomed by the Commanding Officer of 8 Engineer Services Regiment Lt Col MR Vidyarathne CES, all Officers, and Other Ranks.

The visit commenced with a Guard Turnout followed by the Commanding Officer’s briefing on the current operational and administration commitment of the unit. Afterward, plant a sapling was done and a Group photograph was taken.

Later, the Colonel Commandant addressed all ranks and stressed the importance of maintaining good discipline, upholding professionalism, maintaining correct procedures for financial matters, taking measures for drug prevention, and the continuous need for rigorous training.

The Colonel Commandant conducted an inspection of the camp compound, paying particular attention to the welfare facilities available to the soldiers. He also took this as an opportunity to interact with officers, other ranks, and civil staff of the 8 Engineer Services Regiment.

Finally, Colonel Commandant signed the visitors’ book at the Officers' mess.

The visit concluded when Maj Gen Lanka Amarapala expressed his gratitude for the warm reception and commended the 8 Engineer Services Regiment for its dedication and professionalism.
