The Director General of Financial Management and the Colonel Commandant, Corps of Engineer Services, Major General Lanka Amarapala RWP RSP ndc psc made his first official visit to 1 Engineering Services Regiment (1 ESR) at Panagoda on 24 October 2023.
Maj Gen Lanka Amarapala RWP RSP ndc psc was warmly welcomed by the Commanding Officer of 1 Engineer Services Regiment Lt Col PAAS Perera CES, all Officers, and Other Ranks.
The visit commenced with a Guard Turnout followed by the Commanding Officer’s briefing on the current operational and administration commitment of the unit. Afterward, plant a sapling was done and a Group photograph was taken.
The Colonel Commandant conducted an inspection of the camp compound, paying particular attention to the welfare facilities available to the soldiers. He also took this as an opportunity to interact with officers and soldiers of 1 Engineer Services Regiment.
Later, the Colonel Commandant addressed all ranks and stressed the importance of maintaining good discipline, upholding professionalism, and the continuous need for rigorous training.
To mark the end of the program, Colonel Commandant distributed stationary packs to the needy children of soldiers of 1 Engineer Services Regiment, recognizing their sacrifices, and presented gift packs to the civil servants of 1 Engineer Services Regiment for their steadfast commitment to the Army.
