MAJ GEN LANKA AMARAPALA RWP RSP ndc psc INAUGURAL VISIT TO 12 ENGINEER SERVICES REGIMENT

In a historic moment for the 12 Engineer Service Regiment, Major General Lanka Amarapala RWP RSP ndc psc, the Director General of Financial Management, and the Colonel Commandant of the Corps of Engineer Services embarked on his maiden visit to the unit on 04 December 2023. The visit was marked by a series of significant events, showcasing the camaraderie and dedication of the military personnel.

Upon arrival, Maj Gen AHLG Amarapala was warmly welcomed by the Commanding Officer, Major KWGUM Gunathilake CES. The Commanding Officer then provided a comprehensive briefing, offering valuable insights into the unit's achievements, challenges, and future goals.

Symbolizing the visit, a sapling was planted on the premises. Following this meaningful gesture, a group photograph was taken, capturing the momentous occasion with the Colonel Commandant and the unit's officers.

Later, the Colonel Commandant addressed all ranks and stressed the importance of maintaining good discipline, upholding professionalism, maintaining correct procedures for financial matters, taking measures for drug prevention, and the continuous need for rigorous training. Then attended the tea party which was organized by the 12 (V) ESR.

The Colonel Commandant inspected the camp compound, paying particular attention to the welfare facilities available to the soldiers. He also took this as an opportunity to interact with officers, other ranks, and civil staff of the 12 (V) ESR.After that, he addressed all Officers in the HQ building.

As a customary gesture, the Colonel Commandant CES signed the Visitors Book at the Officers' Mess, leaving behind a tangible record of the visit. This act symbolized not only the visit but also the ongoing collaboration and camaraderie between the Colonel Commandant and the unit.
