The foundation stone-laying ceremony for the construction of the new two-storied accommodation building for other ranks took place on Thursday (12) at the premises of 1 Engineer Services Regiment in Panagoda. The distinguished occasion was graced by Major General Lanka Amarapala RWP RSP ndc psc, the Colonel Commandant of the CES, and Director General Financial Management of the Sri Lanka Army.
In alignment with the vision of Commander of the Sri Lanka Army , Lieutenant General Vikum Liyanage RWP RSP ndu, and as a significant step towards enhancing the welfare and well-being of soldiers, a longstanding need for other ranks is set to be fulfilled with a two-storied accommodation building equipped with messing facilities.
In addition to laying the foundation stone for the soldiers' accommodation building, Major General Lanka Amarapala inaugurated the newly fabricated COs’ chalet of 1 Engineer Service Regiment. This event was hosted by the Commanding Officer of 1 ESR, Lieutenant Colonel PAAS Perera. The ceremony concluded with officers engaging in meaningful interactions over a cup of tea.
Brigadier YKS Rangika psc ptsc, the Director Engineer Services, Colonel KL Munasinghe USP, the Centre Commandant of the CES, and senior officers, as well as officers and other ranks of 1 Engineer Service Regiment, also participated in this auspicious occasion.
