CREATORS HOST HISTORIC INTER-REGIMENT DRILL COMPETITION: 12 (V) ESR CLINCHES VICTORY

In a historic milestone for the Corps of Engineer Services (CES), the inaugural Inter-Regiment Drill Competition was held on March 14th and 15th, 2024, under the visionary guidance and leadership of the Colonel Commandant of CES and Director General Financial Management of the Sri Lanka Army, Major General Lanka Amarapala RWP RSP ndc psc. The event marked a significant moment in the CES's legacy, bringing together regiments for a display of precision, discipline, and camaraderie.

The competition witnessed spirited participation from various regiments, each showcasing their prowess and dedication. After intense displays of synchronized drills and impeccable formations, the results were announced with 12 (V) ESR emerging victorious in the first place, followed closely by 3 ESR securing the second position, and once again, 4 (V) ESR securing the third position, highlighting their consistency and excellence in drill performances.

Furthermore, the following individuals showcased their excellent performances and secured titles during the competition: the Best Commander was O/71724 Captain AKN Miushan from 12 (V) ESR, the Best Drill Instructor was S/4s01178 S/Sgt Allawala MKN of 12 (V) ESR, and the title of Best Marker was secured by S/756589 Spr Jayasinghe JKMMVS from 3 ESR.

The awarding ceremony was graced by Major General Lanka Amarapala RWP RSP ndc psc as the Chief Guest, felicitating the deserving winners with awards and certificates. The ceremony was not merely a celebration of victory but also a testament to the dedication, hard work, and professionalism displayed by all participating regiments.

As Major General Lanka Amarapala RWP RSP ndc psc handed out the awards, the pride and sense of accomplishment were palpable among the winning regiment and their supporters. Each award symbolized not just a recognition of excellence in drill performances but also a validation of the relentless training and commitment exhibited by the participating soldiers.

The Inter-Regiment Drill Competition not only showcased the precision and discipline ingrained within the CES but also fostered a sense of unity and friendly competition among the regiments. It served as a platform for soldiers to demonstrate their skills, foster camaraderie, and uphold the esteemed traditions of the CES.

Brigadier KL Munasinghe USP, the Centre Commandant, Brigadier NWPSM Perera, the Brigadier Admin and Quartering – 1 Corps, Senior Officers, Officers, and other ranks of the Corps witnessed the awarding ceremony of the maiden Inter-unit Drill Competition.
