CORPS OF ENGINEER SERVICES RECEIVED RELIGIOUS BLESSINGS ON ITS 75TH ANNIVERSARY

In line with the 75th Anniversary Celebrations of the Corps of Engineer Services, a programme was scheduled to seek blessings to CES from all the religionsbringing together people from different faiths in a powerful display of unity and devotion.

As the second phase of the flag blessings ceremony, CES flag was taken to receive blessings from Kataragama on 13 December 2024.

The days began with a traditional Perahera in Kataragama, which nurtured the spiritual thoughts of the gathering." the flag was carried in the perahera to the Kiriwehera where at the Kiriwehera, the event continued with a Buddhist sermon delivered by a Buddhist priest. After receiving the blessings, the flag was carried to the Kataragama Devalaya and further religious rituals were performed to invoke blessings for the Corps.

As the next event of the itinerary, the CES flag was taken to Mayurapathy Kovil in Colombo on 16 December 2024. There, alongside Hindu officers and soldiers, the flag was blessed as a gesture of faith, unity, and gratitude, honoring the contributions of all those involved to the betterment of the Corps.

Following this, officers and other ranks of the Corps gathered at the Jumma Masjid Mosque in Hanwella on 18 December 2024 to receive blessings for the Corps of Engineer Services, embracing the spiritual grace of the Islamic faith.

Major General KAN Rasika Kumara ndc psc, the Colonel Commandant of the Corps of Engineers Services, Brigadier NWPSM Perera, the Centre Commandant of the Corps of Engineer Services, Senior Officers, Officers and Other Ranks of the Corps took part in the event.

This flag blessing ceremony was a central event in the 75th Anniversary program, symbolizing the collective hopes and prayers of Sri Lanka’s various religious communities for a future of unity, peace, and mutual respect of the Corps. It was a beautiful reminder that, despite the country's diversity, the shared values of peace and harmony continue to bind its people together.
