Regimental Headquarters of the Corps of Engineer Services (CES), organized the awarding ceremony of annual Inter-Regiment Drill Competition of year 2025 on 23 September 2025. The individuals who showcased best performances in the Inter-Regiment Drill Competition which was held on 7th and 8th of April 2025 received trophies and certificates in recognition of their achievements.
The Commander Security forces Jaffna and the Colonel Commandant of CES , Major General KAN Rasika Kumara ndc psc graced the ceremony as the Chief Guest. The event marked a significant moment in the CES's legacy, bringing together regiments for a display of precision, discipline, and camaraderie.
The competition witnessed spirited participation from various regiments, each showcasing their prowess and dedication. After intense displays of synchronized drills and impeccable formations, the results were announced with 3 Engineer Services Regiment emerging victorious in the first place, followed closely by 1ESR securing the second place, and 12 (V) ESR securing the third place, highlighting their consistency and excellence in drill performances.
Individual accolades were also presented to recognize exceptional commanding and instructional skills. Captain RMKD Rathnayake CES, who led the platoon from the 1 Engineer Services Regiment, was awarded Best Platoon Commander, showcasing exceptional command and discipline. Meanwhile, Staff Sergeant Chathuranga KMS, also from the 1 Engineer Services Regiment, was recognized as the Best Drill Instructor and and the title of Best Marker was secured by Spr Wickramasinghe RD from 4(V) ESR.
The Inter-Battalion Drill Competition continues to serve as a prestigious platform to reinforce regimental pride and highlight the high standards maintained within the Corps of Engineer Services. The Regimental Headquarters extends its congratulations to all participants for their professionalism and teamwork.
