The 74th Anniversary of the Corps of Engineer Services (CES) was celebrated at the CES Regimental Headquarters in Panagoda Cantonment on Wednesday, January 10. The event was graced by Major General Lanka Amarapala RWP RSP ndcpsc, the Colonel Commandant of the Corps of Engineer Services and the Director General Financial Management of the Sri Lanka Army.
Colonel KL Munasinghe USP, the Centre Commandant of CES, warmly welcomed Major General Lanka Amarapala upon his arrival, and he was accorded a Guard Turnout. The ceremony continued with paying tribute to fallen war heroes, followed by the Colonel Commandant reviewing the impressive Guard of Honour presented by the troops of the Corps of Engineer Services.
The day's events continued with a group photograph with proud Creators, and a symbolic act of planting a mango sapling to commemorate the 74 years of history. Later, Major General Lanka Amarapala, the Colonel Commandant, joined for tea at the Officers' Mess, providing an opportunity for interaction with the officers.
As another integral part of the day's itinerary, the Colonel Commandant addressed all ranks, from senior officers to the junior-most Sapper. He highlighted the historical and current contributions of officers and soldiers in uplifting the standards of the Corps of Engineer Services. Major General Lanka Amarapala emphasized the significance of Officering and Regimentation. He also reminded Council Members and Commanding Officers of the vision set forth by the Commander of the Army, Lieutenant General VikumLiyanage RWP RSP ndu, to focus more on the well-being and welfare of the soldiers.
The day's agenda concluded with an all-rank lunch, attended by senior officers, officers, and other ranks of the Corps of Engineer Services.
Brigadier YKS Rangikapscptsc, the Director of Engineer Services, Brigadier K Wirasinghe USP, Brigadier Admin & Quartering – Security Force Headquarters (Jaffna), senior officers, officers, and other ranks of the Corps of Engineer Services participated in the anniversary arrangements.
