The Corps of Engineer Services bade farewell to Brigadier P Gunasekara USP Lsc who got retired with effect from 17 March 2019 after 24 years of distinguished military service in the Sri Lanka Army.
Brigadier P Gunasekara USP Lsc joined the Corps of Engineer Services as a directly enlisted Civil Engineer Officer in the rank of Captain on 17 April 1995.
During his military service in the Army, he had served in operational and non operational areas holding appointments such as
Garrison Engineer (Batticaloa)
Garrison Engineer (Panagoda)
OC Design – 1 ESR
SO II (Constructions) – Dte of ES
OC 31 ESS – 3 ESR
2 IC - OC Troops 5 ESR
2 IC - 1 ESR
CO – 6 ESR
Overlooking Col ES – Dte of ES
And Col ES (Design & Planning)
He was promoted to the rank of Brigadier with effect from 16 March 2019 and a Guard Turnout was accorded in honour of Brig P Gunasekara USP Lsc in the morning 16 March 2019 at the Corps of Engineer Services Regimental Headquarters.
In the evening , a Farewell dinner was hosted at RHQ CES Officers’ Mess as a gesture of farewell to Brigadier P Gunasekara USP Lsc.
The Master General Ordnance and Col Comdt CES Major General H J S Gunawardene RSP USP ndc psc , The Director Engineer Services Brigadier R Ganegoda psc , The Centre Commandant CES Col KMS Kumara and large number of large number of Senior Officers, Officers and their spouses participated in this event .
