CORPS OF ENGINEER SERVICES ACCORDED GRAND MILITARY HONOURS TO OUTGOING COLONEL COMMANDANT

The Corps of Engineer Services bade farewell to Major General IANB Perera RWP USP ndu psc, The Military Secretary of the Sri Lanka Army and Colonel Commandant of Corps of engineer Services on 16 August 2024 who is to be retired from the Army on 20 August 2024 after rendering a 35 years of exemplary and distinguished service to the Sri Lanka Army and the Nation.

Outgoing Colonel Commandant was received by the Centre Commandant of CES, Brigadier KL Munasinghe USP, at the main entrance of the Regimental Headquarters, Corps of Engineer Services and was accorded a guard turnout showcasing corps gratitude towards outgoing Colonel Commandant. There after Major General Buddhika Perera payed floral tributes at the Corps of Engineer Services war heroes’ memorial in honour of fallen war heroes.

In accordance with military formalities, a colorful guard of honour was held in salute of the outgoing Colonel Commandant. And then he posed for a group photograph with officers of the corp.

Thereafter, he officially relinquished the appointment of Colonel Commandant CES by signing handing over documents and addressing all the officers and other ranks. During the troop address, the outgoing Colonel Commandant recalled the achievements made by the regiments during his tenure as Colonel Commandant, and he commended the hard work of all officers and other ranks.

He also visited the WOs' and Sgts' Mess and interacted with them leaving his remarks in the visitor’s book.

Later that evening, according to military customs and traditions, a farewell dinner was hosted at the Corps of Engineer Services Regimental Headquarters in honour of Major General Buddhika Perera RWP USP ndu psc.

Before saying, “Until we meet again,” he penned his compliments in the visitor’s book at the officer mess.

Brigadier K Wirasinghe USP, BAQ SFHQ (J), Brigadier KL Munasinghe USP, the Centre Commandant of the CES, senior officers, officers, and other ranks witnessed the event.
