COMMEMORATIVE VISIT OF MAJ GEN LANKA AMARAPALA RWP RSP ndc psc TO 14 ENGINEER SERVICES REGIMENT (V)

14 (V) ESR welcomed the esteemed presence of Major General Lanka Amarapala RWP RSP ndc psc, the Director General of Financial Management, and the Colonel Commandant of the Corps of Engineer Services on 29 November 2023.

The day commenced with a splendid guard turnout, demonstrating the discipline and precision for which 14 (V) ESR is renowned. Maj Gen Lanka Amarapala was accorded a warm welcome by the Commanding Officer Lt Col WUS Karunarathne CES, reflecting the unit's hospitality and respect for its distinguished guests. The Commanding Officer took the opportunity to provide a comprehensive briefing on the unit's tasks and processes. This session offered valuable insights into the unit's operations, challenges, and achievements, fostering a deeper understanding of the responsibilities shouldered by the personnel of 14 (V) ESR.

Symbolizing the visit, a sapling was planted on the premises. Following this meaningful gesture, a group photograph was taken, capturing the momentous occasion with the Colonel Commandant and the unit's officers.

Later, the Colonel Commandant addressed all ranks and stressed the importance of maintaining good discipline, upholding professionalism, maintaining correct procedures for financial matters, taking measures for drug prevention, and the continuous need for rigorous training. Then attended the tea party which was organized by the 14 (V) ESR.

The Colonel Commandant conducted an inspection of the camp compound, paying particular attention to the welfare facilities available to the soldiers. He also took this as an opportunity to interact with officers, other ranks, and civil staff of the 14 (V) ESR.After that, he addressed all Officers in the conference hall.

As a customary gesture, the Colonel Commandant CES signed the Visitors Book at the Officers' Mess, leaving behind a tangible record of the visit. This act symbolized not only the visit but also the ongoing collaboration and camaraderie between the Colonel Commandant and the unit.

The visit of the Colonel Commandant CES to 14 (V) ESR was a day filled with meaningful interactions, symbolic gestures, and a celebration of the unit's achievements. From guard turnout to sapling planting, troop addresses to Officers' Mess formalities, every aspect of the day highlighted the unit's professionalism, dedication, and strong bond among its members. It was a day that will be remembered as a testament to the excellence and pride of 14 (V) ESR.
