The Wesak Lantern created by WO I NHS Sanjeewa and his team at Colombo Gangarama Buddha Rashmi Wesak Zone, representing the Corps of Engineers Services was declared open for the public on 03 March 2015. The Wesak Lantern displayed by the Corps of Engineer Services at Buddha Rashmi Wesak Zone won the first place for three consecutive years. The CES Wesak Lantern depicting two important events of the Life of the Buddha, the Great Renunciation and the Attaining Enlightenment , has been able to draw a large public attentions at the Vesak Zone. The Wesak Lantern has been mainly made of Coconut Shells. Also Coconut Guinits, Toddy Palm Seeds , Cane and Bo Leaves have been used.
