In response to a request made by the Director- General of Health Service Dr Anil Jasinghe to the Chief of Defence Staff, Commander of the Army and Head of the National Operation Centre for Prevention of Covid-19 Outbreak , the troops of the Corps of Engineer Services (CES) renovated an abandoned two storied building in the National Institute of Mental Health premises - Angoda and vested it for use of mentally-ill COVID-19 patients on 29 April 2020. Director Engineer Services & Colonel Commandant of CES, Brigadier R Ganegoda graced the occasion of the handing over of the new hospital building.
Commanding Officer 1 Engineers Services Regiment, Lieutenant Colonel GWASB Muhandiramge USP CES, troops of CES, The Director General of Health Services & hospital staff were present on the occasion.
