The Corps of Engineer Services successfully organized a vibrant and culturally enriching Sinhala and Tamil New Year Festival on 02 May 2026 at the 4 (Volunteer) Engineer Services Regiment in Panadura. The event was held in keeping with long-standing traditions, providing an opportunity for members of the Corps to celebrate the New Year in a festive and meaningful manner.
The programme was conducted under the guidance of the *Colonel Commandant of CES and Director Engineer Services, Brigadier N.W.P.S.M. Perera, and the President of the CES Seva Vanitha Branch, Mrs. Dilrukshi Dharmapala*, whose leadership contributed significantly to the success of the occasion. Their presence and encouragement ensured the smooth organization and enthusiastic participation of all ranks. Moreover, the Commanding Officer, All Officers, and Other Ranks of the 4 (Volunteer) Engineer Services Regiment worked tirelessly to make the event a success.
The festival brought together officers, soldiers, and their families in a warm and spirited atmosphere of unity and tradition. A wide range of customary Avurudu games, cultural performances, and entertainment activities were organized, reflecting the rich cultural heritage associated with the Sinhala and Tamil New Year. The event provided a valuable platform for fostering goodwill, strengthening bonds, and enhancing morale among all members of the Corps of Engineer Services, while preserving and promoting cherished national traditions.
