SRI LANKA CORPS OF MILITARY POLICE SALUTED TO THE RETIRING COLONEL COMMANDANT OF SRI LANKA CORPS OF MILITARY POLICE

The Sri Lanka Corps of Military Police (SLCMP) bade a farewell to the outgoing Director General General Staff of the Sri Lanka Army (SL Army) and the Colonel Commandant of the Sri Lanka Corps of Military Police, Major General S A N D Edirisinghe RWP RSP Hdmc psc with military honours and greetings in a formal ceremony held at the Regimental Centre, Sri Lanka Corps of Military Police, Polhengoda on 23 December 2024.

The retiring Major General S A N D Edirisinghe RWP RSP Hdmc psc enlisted to SL Army as an Officer Cadet on 14 July 1989. On completion of his basic military training, he was commissioned as a Second Lieutenant and joined the Sri Lanka Light Infantry Regiment. Throughout his remarkable journey of 35 Years and 6 Months, the senior Officer has rendered a distinguished service to the Army.

Upon his arrival, a Guard Turnout was presented in the honour of the Senior Officer followed by a Guard of honour, presented at the RHQ parade square. During the formal troops address, the retiring senior Officer extended his gratitude to the Commander of the Army, Principal Staff Officers of the SL Army, Past Colonel Commandants, Past Provost Marshals, all Officers and Other ranks of the Sri Lanka Corps of Military Police for the support extended for him to carry out his duties over the 35 years.

Later in the evening, a customary Farewell Mess Night was hosted for the retiring Major General S A N D Edirisinghe RWP RSP Hdmc psc with the participation of Provost Officers and their spouses. The Provost Marshal of the Sri Lanka Army, Brigadier R D Sallay ndc, delivered the farewell speech extending a deep sense of gratitude and appreciation of service of the outgoing Director General General Staff of the SL Army and the Colonel Commandant of SLCMP while recalling some of the salient achievements, milestone and memories of the senior Officer.

The Provost Marshal of the Sri Lanka Army, the Centre Commandant of RHQ SLCMP, council members, senior Officers and Officers attended the programme.
