SRI LANKA CORPS OF MILITARY POLICE COMMEMORATES 34TH REGIMENTAL CORPS DAY, HONOURING FALLEN WAR HEROES

In congruence with its 34th Regimental Day Anniversary, the Sri Lanka Corps of Military Police (SLCMP), paid tribute to the valiant provosts who made the ultimate sacrifice for the nation. The dignified ceremony held at the 2nd Regiment, Sri Lanka Corps of Military Police Girithale on 22 March 2024 (evening) served as a solemn remembrance of the fallen war heroes.

Under the direction of Major General A C A De Zoysa USP Hdmc Lsc, the Provost Marshal of the Sri Lanka Army and Colonel Commandant of the Sri Lanka Corps of Military Police, the commemoration ceremony was meticulously organized to honour those who had laid down their lives in service to the motherland. Family members, including parents, spouses, and children of the fallen soldiers, were extended heartfelt invitations to participate in the event, with many joining alongside other next of kin to pay tribute to their loved ones.

The ceremony commenced at 1600 hrs in front of the War Heroes’ Monument, where multi-religious blessings were offered as a symbol of unity and reverence. Then, the Colonel Commandant, Senior Officers, Officers, and family members solemnly laid flowers at the monument, honouring the courage, sacrifice, and valour of the fallen heroes. With meticulous attention to military customs and protocols, the event unfolded with solemnity and respect, reflecting the deep gratitude and reverence felt by all in attendance.

The Provost Marshal of the Sri Lanka Army and the Colonel Commandant of Sri Lanka Corps of Military Police, Major General A C A De Zoysa USP Hdmc Lsc, Centre Commandant, Council members, Other Senior Officers, Officers, Regimental Sergeant Majors, Senior Non-Commissioned Officers and Non-Commissioned Officers also participated to the event.
