The outgoing Colonel Commandant of Sri Lanka Corps of Military Police (SLCMP), Maj Gen A L Illangakoon was awarded with military honours and greetings at the Regimental Centre – Polhengoda on 18 May 2023.
A Guard Turnout at the entrance upon his arrival saluted him before, he was invited to receive the salute in the Guard of honour, presented at RHQ parade square on his behalf. The event included a group photograph, Tea at Officers’ mess and followed by a troops address. During the formal troops address, he thanked the Commander of the Army, all members of the Sri Lanka Corps of Military Police,past Colonel Commandant for the support extended for him to carry out his duties over the years.
Later in the evening, a Customary Farewell Mess Night was hosted to the retiring Major General AL Illangakoon with participating Provost Officers and their spouses. The Colonel Commandant of SLCMP and the Provost Marshal of SL Army Major General ACA de Zoysa USP Hdmc Lsc delivered the farewell speech extending a deep sense of gratitude and appreciation for the service of outgoing Colonel Commandant while recalling some of the salient achievements, milestone and memories of the senior Officer.
The Colonel Commandant of SLCMP and the Provost Marshal of SL Army, Major General ACA de Zoysa USP Hdmc Lsc, council members, senior Officers and Officers participated in the former ceremony.
