On October 18, 2024, Colonel EMI Ekanayaka assumed duties as the 13th Commanding Officer of the Special Investigation Unit of the Sri Lanka Corps of Military Police. Upon arrival, the newly appointed Commanding Officer was honored with a guard turnout and a ceremonial parade. Following this, the senior officer officially took over his new responsibilities at his office amidst religious proceedings. After the formalities, all Officers and Other Ranks gathered for a group photograph with the new Commanding Officer. In his inaugural address, Colonel EMI Ekanayaka shared an inspiring message, outlining his vision for the future of the Special Investigation Unit. He encouraged all personnel to continue their dedication to the proud provost tradition within the Army, emphasizing the importance of hard work and commitment.
