After assuming duties as the Colonel Commandant of Sri Lanka Corps of Military Police, Major General ULJS Perera RSP USP nps psc paid the first official visit to the School of Military Police (SMP) at Girithale on 15th March 2025.
The Commandant of SMP, Colonel IR Hanthanearachchi, extended a warm welcome to the Colonel Commandant at the entrance with a traditional Guard Turnout Followed by a group photograph. The Commandant of SMP conducted a comprehensive briefing on the overall functions of SMP.
The troops of SMP and 2 SLCMP were addressed by the Colonel Commandant and highlighted in the aspects of maintaining the status of discipline at all levels, the significance of military training, the importance of enhancing the professional knowledge of Provost Officers and Other Ranks, and continuing excellent dedicated service. Afterward, the Colonel Commandant visited the camp premises, including the Parade Ground, Gymnasium, WMPs’ Accommodation, Ration Stores and kitchen, Corporals’ Club, Canteen, Bakery, Medical Inspection Room, and course students’ living area. Further witnessed an outdoor teaching session for Recruits and instructed the instructors of SMP. A sapling was planted by the Colonel Commandant to mark his visit to SMP. The event concluded with signing of the Visitors’ Book at Officers’ Mess.
The Centre Commandant of Regimental Centre Brigadier MMMP Mahesh Kumara, Commandant of SMP, all Senior Officers and Others Ranks of SMP were present at the event.
