SEVA VANITHA BRANCH OF THE COMMANDO REGIMENT CONDUCTS HOUSE VISITS TO PERSONNEL AFFECTED BY NATURAL DISASTERS

With the guidance of the Master General of the Ordnance and Colonel of the Regiment, Commando Regiment, Major General KHMS Wickramaratne RSP, and under the leadership of the President of the Seva Vanitha Branch, Mrs Samindie Wickramaratne, together with the dedicated members of the Seva Vanitha Branch, a series of house visits and welfare assessments were conducted on 19 December 2025 to support Commando Regiment personnel affected by recent natural disasters.

These visits were carried out in response to adverse weather conditions that resulted in landslides, soil erosion, flooding and structural damage across several districts. During the visits, the Seva Vanitha team closely reviewed the extent of damage based on ground-level observations and official notifications issued by the relevant civil authorities. The following Commando Regiment personnel were identified as being adversely affected by the recent natural disasters.

01. CAPT (QM) KHVHAN Vitharana – 1 CR (Gampola) - Complete house damage; landslide risk identified. Evacuation ordered by NBRO.

02. WO I AMGP Mangala Kumara RSP USP – 2 CR (Doluwa) - House fully collapsed; red notice issued.

03. SGT Abesinghe BAMGSIRK – 2 CR, (Kandy) - Severe wall damage; red notice issued.

04. CPL Saranga WAC – 3 CR,(Kothmale) - House subsided; wall cracks observed.

05. CPL Niunhella DGC – 1 CR, (Nuwara Eliya) - Severe wall damage; red notice issued.

06. L/CPL Gunarathna HMASM – 2 CR,(Rikillagaskada) - High-risk area; evacuated and currently residing in rented accommodation.

07. L/CPL Pushpakumara KDD – 2 CR, (Welimada) - Landslide risk identified; red notice issued.

08. L/CPL Weerasinghe PGL – 3 CR, (Galaha) - House fully collapsed; red notice issued.

09. L/CPL Ranaweera KPGNMK – 3 CR, (Dehiaththakandiya) - House fully collapsed; a red notice was issued.

10. L/CPL Dissanayaka BMTK – 3 CR, (Boralanda) - Severe wall cracks identified; temporarily evacuated.

11. L/CPL Wickramasinghe WMJKM – 3 CR, (Badulla) - Structural damage identified; relocation ordered.

12. L/CPL Wijerathna PYGP – 4 CR, (Nawalapitiya) - House subsided; red notice issued.

13. PTE Sugathapala MGIS – 2 CR, (Welamboda) - Underwent a lower-limb amputation due to disaster-related injuries and his House fully collapsed.

14. S/2137314 REC Jayarathna DGML – RHQ CR, (Gampola) - Flood damage to house walls.
