AWARENESS AND GRIEVANCE REDRESSAL PROGRAM FOR SERVING OFFICERS AND SOLDIERS UNDER MEDICAL CLASSIFICATION

A special awareness and grievance redressal program was successfully conducted on 04th June 2025 at the Commando Regiment Headquarters in Ganemulla with the distinguished leadership of Brigadier W A S R Wijedasa WWV RSP USP ndc psc, Director of the Directorate of Veterans Affairs and Rehabilitation. The program was further strengthened by the participation of several senior officers, including Colonel (Rehabilitation) M A I A D R S Irasinghe RWP of the Directorate of Veterans Affairs and Rehabilitation, Lieutenant Colonel K V T S Kekulawala LSC, the Deputy Centre Commandant of the Commando Regiment, Lieutenant Colonel K S Prasantha the SO1 (VA) Regiment Center Commando Regiment, several Staff Officers of the AHQs and number of Senior Officers and Officers from Commando Regiment.

The program was held to identify and assist service members of the Commando Regiment and Special Forces Regiment, who were under medical Classification due to operation or non-operation reasons. Through this initiative, participants were educated on available welfare services and efforts were made to resolve their existing issues and concerns.

This program has been conducted for the Commando Regiment and Special Forces' officers and Other Rankers who serve under the medical categories. An officer and 101 other ranks have participated. During these enlightening sessions, representatives from the Directorate of Personnel Administration, the Directorate of Veterans Affairs and Rehabilitation, the Directorate of Welfare, and the Directorate of Pay and Records delivered informative briefings on the welfare facilities and entitlements available to Sri Lankan Army personnel.

Furthermore, the problems and issues raised by the disabled war heroes present at the event were addressed on the spot by the attending representatives of the relevant directorates, who provided appropriate guidance and directed them toward necessary follow-up actions. This contributed significantly to the overall success and effectiveness of the program.
