Brigadier BMSKK Dharmawardena RWP RSP USP, the Center Commandant at the Commando Regiment's Regimental Center, officially handed over his duties on August 27, 2024, as he prepared for retirement. He was warmly welcomed at the main gate by Brigadier RGLK Weerakoon RWP RSP, the Deputy Commandant. A guard turnout was presented in his honor, followed by a formal Guard of Honour at the parade ground.
After paying tribute at the Commando Regiment’s war monument, Brigadier Dharmawardena joined officers for a group photograph. He then addressed the gathered officers and other ranks in the lecture hall. The event concluded with an all-rank tea, after which Brigadier Dharmawardena offered his final salute at the main gate, marking his last day in uniform as a military officer.
