A customary felicitation ceremony was held at the Commando Regimental Centre, Ganemulla on 19 December 2025 to honour the newly promoted Major General G S K Perera RSP ndc. The event was organized in keeping with the traditions of the Commando Regiment to extend a salute to its distinguished senior officer.
On arrival, Major General G S K Perera RSP ndc was received by Lt Col W C Samarasinghe RSP USP psc , Overlooking Deputy Commandant of the Commando Regimental Centre and accorded a Guard Turnout followed by a Guard of Honour at the Regimental Headquarters.
Subsequent to these formalities, senior officer paid their tribute to the Commando Fallen War Heroes by laying floral wreaths at the Commando War Memorial. Thereafter, a group photograph with Officers was taken in front of the Officers’ Mess.
Addressing all ranks at the Maroon Legacy, the senior officer recalled his illustrious military career spanning over three decades. They expressed profound gratitude to Commando Veterans, Senior Officers, Officers, Senior Non-Commissioned Officers, and Non-Commissioned Officers who contributed to their professional growth in the Sri Lanka Army. He further underscored the significance of maintaining the reputation of the Commando as a professional soldier, fostering regimental esprit de corps and working as a cohesive team. An All Ranks tea party was arranged at the corporal's club.
With the presence of Brigadier R S C Dissanayaka RSP, Commander – 241 Infantry Brigade, together with Senior Officers, Officers and All Ranks of the Commando Regiment and invitees of tri forcers Senior Officers, Police Officers and relatives of Major General G S K Perera RSP ndc rendered the occasion a memorable and dignified tribute to the newly promoted Major General.
