The Commando Regiment Seva Vanitha Branch, under the leadership of Mrs. Samindi Wickramarathne, organized a series of impactful community outreach initiatives in January 2025, showcasing their unwavering commitment to serving and uplifting communities in need. These efforts were made possible under the guidance of the President of the Army Seva Vanitha Unit, emphasizing the importance of compassion and unity.
On 24th January, the team visited the Sri Wimalawansha Creche in Ranmuthugala, where they distributed essential supplies such as food, stationery, toys, and nutritional items to the children. The event filled the children's hearts with joy, underscoring the critical role of community care and support.
The following day, on 25th January, the team turned their focus to the Kaduwela Vilbart Perera Memorial Elders Home, where they provided dry rations, sanitary items, and nutritious meals to the elderly residents. Later that day, a special event was held at the Commando Regiment Centre, where household items, dry rations, and clothing were distributed to the dedicated civil staff of the Commando Regiment as a gesture of appreciation for their hard work.
A heartfelt thank you goes to Mrs. Samindi Wickramarathne, President of the Commando Seva Vanitha Branch, for her generous donations of household items and clothing, which had been lovingly used by her late parents, Mr. H.L. Karunarathne and Mrs. Rathna Karunarathne. The success of these events was also made possible through the unwavering support of Maj. Gen. K.H.M.S. Wickramarathna RSP, GOC 53 INF DIV and Colonel of the Regiment of Commando Regiment, and Brig. M.R. Raziq RSP ndc, the Centre Commandant of the Commando Regiment.
These outreach initiatives stand as a testament to the Seva Vanitha Branch’s ongoing dedication to fostering compassion, unity, and making a positive impact. Through the active participation and generous donations of Seva Vanitha members, these events continue to strengthen community ties and bring meaningful change.
