Commando Regiment Seva Vanitha Branch Donates Wheelchair to Mother of (Late) Lieutenant M P de Silva

In a heartfelt act of gratitude and remembrance, the Seva Vanitha Branch of the Commando Regiment organized a wheelchair donation programme to support the beloved mother of (Late) Lieutenant M P de Silva of the 2nd Commando Regiment, who was killed in action on 4 December 1997 during Operation Jayasikurui in the Mannankkulam area. He made the supreme sacrifice while defending the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Sri Lanka.

This initiative was conducted under the guidance of Major General K S M S Wickramarathne RSP, Commander, 53 Infantry Division and Colonel of the Regiment, Commando Regiment. The programme was led by Mrs Samindie Wickramaratne, Honorable President of the Seva Vanitha Branch, Commando Regiment, who was accompanied by several active members of the branch. Adding further significance to the event, Brigadier M R Razick RSP ndu, Centre Commandant of the Commando Regiment, also graced the occasion.

The donation of a wheelchair and a dry ration pack to the mother of (Late) Lieutenant M P de Silva symbolized the Regiment’s profound respect and enduring gratitude for his ultimate sacrifice. It also served as a reminder of the Commando Regiment’s unwavering support for the loved ones of those who gave their lives in the line of duty.
