20TH COMMEMORATION CEREMONY OF LATE HON LAKSHMAN KADIRGAMAR

The 20th commemoration ceremony of late Hon. Lakshman Kadirgamar, former Minister of Foreign Affairs, was held at the Regimental Centre Commando Regiment on 16th and 17th September 2025.

The event was conducted under the distinguished patronage of Mrs. Sugandhi Kadirgamar, wife of the late minister, with the participation of Major General K H M S Wickramaratne RSP Commander 1 Corps and Colonel of the Regiment, the Brigadier R R C Karunaratna RWP Commandant of the Commando Regimental Centre and senior officers of the Commando Regiment.

The programme included a sermon on the evening of 16 September 2025 and a morning alms-giving on 17 September 2025 to invoke blessings on the late statesman. Officers and soldiers of the Regiment attended the ceremony, paying tribute to Hon. Lakshman Kadirgamar for his invaluable service to the nation.

This annual commemoration, organized by the Commando Regiment, reaffirms the Regiment’s deep respect and gratitude while preserving the legacy of Hon. Lakshman Kadirgamar as a national leader whose vision and service continue to guide and inspire the nation.
