Brigadier YKS Rangika psc ptsc assumed the duties as the 17th Colonel Commandant of the Corps of Engineer Services on Monday (19th Jan) at Regimental Headquarters, CES.
The incoming Colonel Commandant, Brigadier YKS Rangika psc ptsc was warmly welcomed by the Centre Commandant CES, Brigadier MSD Perera USP ptsc at the main entrance of Corps of Engineer Services Regimental Headquarters. Then, Brigadier YKS Rangika psc ptsc was accorded a guard turnout followed by the laying of a wreath as a floral tribute to the brave fallen war heroes of the Corps of Engineer Services. Steeped in the storied customs of the military, a vibrant and meticulously executed parade was mounted.
Subsequently, the Colonel Commandant placed his signature on an official document amidst religious observances and invoked blessings upon the 17th Colonel Commandant of the Corps of Engineer Services, to signify the formal acceptance of the new office. Afterward, the Colonel Commandant posed for a group photograph with officers of the Corps of Engineer Services followed by a sapling a mango plant to commemorate the day.
In line with the formal proceedings of the event, the Colonel Commandant addressed the troops and then he hosted a tea party, fostering camaraderie and informal interaction. The Colonel Commandant then shared his command philosophy with the assembled officers, highlighting his vision for the appointment and stressing that the career progression of officers remains a cornerstone of the Regimental mission. The day’s proceedings were concluded after lunch with all officers at the Regimental Officers’ mess.
