CES CHESS TEAM ACHIEVES OUTSTANDING RESULTS AT SRI LANKA ARMY INTER-REGIMENT CHAMPIONSHIP

The Corps of Engineer Services (CES) chess team demonstrated remarkable skill and competitive spirit at the Sri Lanka Army Inter-Regiment Chess Championship, securing the position of second runner-up overall.

The team’s impressive individual performances included:

• Lieutenant R D M Suraweera CES (O/72353) clinched first place in the overall championship, second place in the Blitz (fast-paced) category, and contributed to the team’s fourth-place finish.
• Captain M P S Polpitiya CES (O/11599) earned first place on board number 4 in the Rapid Chess category, fourth place in the Standard Chess event, and fourth place in the Blitz tournament.

These achievements highlight the strategic excellence and dedication of the CES chess players, contributing greatly to the team's success in this highly competitive inter-regiment event.
