In cooperate with the 75th Anniversary of the Corps of Engineer Services, a poignant commemoration ceremony to honor the fallen war heroes was held at the Regimental Headquarters of the Corps of Engineer Services (RHQCES) On 03rd January 2025. This event, brought together senior military officials, officers, and personnel to pay tribute to those who made the ultimate sacrifice for the nation.
The ceremony, organized by RHQCES under the guidance of the Colonel Commandant Corps of Engineer Services and General Officer Commanding 22 Infantry Division, Major General KAN Rasika Kumara ndc psc, was a deeply moving event. The ceremony began at 1620 hours in front of the War Heroes’ Monument located at the RHQCES premises.
As part of the solemn occasion, blessings were sought from priests representing multiple religions which underscored the nation's unity in remembering the brave soldiers who laid down their lives in service to the country.
Floral tributes were presented at the monument as a symbol of deep respect and gratitude. The gathering stood in quiet reflection, paying homage to the soldiers who fought valiantly, ensuring the protection and sovereignty of the nation. These fallen heroes are remembered not only for their bravery but for their sacrifice, which continues to inspire generations of soldiers and citizens alike.
The ceremony culminated with a bugle tribute, echoing through the air as the sun set, marking the emotional conclusion of a day dedicated to remembrance. The bugle, a symbol of the military’s solemnity and reverence, resonated as a final salute to the fallen soldiers.
Among the distinguished dignitaries present at the ceremony were Major General KAN Rasika Kumara ndc psc, the Colonel Commandant of the Corps of Engineer Services and General Officer Commanding of 22 Infantry Division, Brigadier YKS Rangika psc ptsc, Director Engineer Services, Brigadier KL Munasinghe USP, Brigadier Admin & Quartering SFHQ (West), Brigadier NWPSM Perera, the Centre Commandant CES as well as Senior Officers, and Officers of the Corps.
