The Corps of Engineer Services organized a training day program for its officers at the Regimental Headquarters, Panagoda on 6th of March 2025. This event marked the first training day of the year 2025 for the officers of the Corps and was attended by approximately 120 participants. The day was designed to not only focus on professional development but also offer opportunities for recreation and camaraderie among the officers and their families.
The program began early in the morning with a physical training parade, allowing the officers to kick off the day with some fitness exercises. Following the PT parade, the officers participated in a sword drill session, refining their discipline and shaping the drills.
A significant highlight of the day was the lecture on “Work Progress and Man Management”, conducted by Lieutenant Colonel DGEMRB Dhammanthota psc SLE. His session was highly informative and insightful, providing the officers with valuable strategies for managing work progression and enhancing leadership skills. The lecture underscored the importance of effective task management and the role of officers in fostering a productive and well-managed team environment.
At the conclusion of the lecture, Brigadier NWPSM Perera, the Centre Commandant of CES addressed the officers, offering valuable insights on "How to Incorporate Military Estimation with Office Works and Day to Day Life", emphasizing the significance of applying military strategies and precision in everyday tasks to enhance efficiency and decision making. The officers then gathered together for a lunch, where they had the chance to network and reflect on the day’s activities.
To add a touch of recreational enjoyment, a cricket match was organized, fostering teamwork and a sense of friendly competition among the officers. This provided a perfect break and an opportunity to relax and bond with others.
As the day came to a close, the officers, along with their spouses, gathered at the Officers' Mess to witness a classical musical evening, "Geeyaka Arutha," performed by the talented Mr. Dhammika Bandara. This cultural performance provided a relaxing end to the day and allowed everyone to unwind while appreciating Sri Lanka’s rich musical heritage. The gathering was headed by Major General KAN Rasika Kumara ndc psc, the Colonel Commandant of the Corps of Engineer Services along with Mrs. Anupama Rathnayake, the President CES SevaVanitha Branch, Brigadier YKS Rangika psc ptsc, the Director Engineer Services and Brigadier NWPSM Perera, the Centre Commandant, CES.
Overall, the training day program for the officers of the Corps of Engineer Services was a great success, balancing professional development with recreation and cultural enrichment. It offered valuable learning experiences and strengthened the bond among officers.
