CORPS OF ENGINEER SERVICES BIDS FAREWELL TO BRIGADIER KL MUNASINGHE USP

The Regimental Headquarters of the Corps of Engineer Services held a heartfelt farewell ceremony on 15 July 2025 in honour of Brigadier KL Munasinghe USP, marking the conclusion of his distinguished and unblemished military career in the Sri Lanka Army.

Brigadier Kanil Munasinghe began his remarkable journey in the Army on 17 October 1993, enrolling in Intake 11 of the General Sir John Kotelawala Defence Academy. After completing his Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering and advanced military training at Diyatalawa, he laid the foundation for an exemplary military career in the Corps of Engineer Services in year 1997.

Throughout his service, Brigadier Munasinghe held numerous staff and command appointments by commanding the 16 Engineer Services Regiment, 2 Engineer Services Regiment, 14 (V) Engineer Services Regiment, and the Engineer Services Trade School. He also served with distinction as the Centre Commandant of the Corps of Engineer Services. Prior to his retirement, he held the appointment of Additional Director of the Project Management Unit of the Defence Headquarters Complex (DHQC) Project, Akuregoda.

The farewell ceremony was graced by the presence of Major General KAN Rasika Kumara ndc psc, Commander Security Force (Jaffna) and the Colonel Commandant of CES, Brigadier YKS Rangika psc ptsc, Director Engineer Services, Brigadier NWPSM Perera, Centre Commandant CES, senior officers, officers, of the Corps. Mrs. Anupama Rathnayaka, Chairperson of the CES Seva Vanitha Branch, along with senior members and members of the Seva Vanitha Branch, also attended to extend their best wishes.

The Corps of Engineer Services expresses its deepest gratitude to Brigadier KL Munasinghe USP for his 32 years of loyal, dedicated, and inspiring service to the Corps, Army and the nation.
