In preparation for the 75th Corps Day Anniversary celebrations, the Regimental Centre of the Corps of Engineer Services (CES) organized an all-night pirith chanting ceremony on 03rd January 2025, held at the Regimental Headquarters (RHQ-CES) premises. The event, which took place in the evening before the Corps’ Anniversary was aimed to invoke blessings upon both serving and retired members of the CES.
The evening’s ceremony began with a vibrant and colorful perahera, featuring the Venerable Maha Sangha accompanied by a lively display of fireworks, whip crackers, dancers, and a cultural troupe to the All Ranks' mess where the pirith chanting ceremony was held.
The ceremony was honored with the presence of Major General KAN Rasika Kumara ndc psc, the Colonel Commandant of CES and the General Officer Commanding of 22 Infantry Division. He was joined by Mrs. Anupama Rathnayake, the President of the CES Seva Vanitha Branch, Brigadier YKS Rangika psc ptsc, the Director Engineer Services, Brigadier KL Munasinghe USP, Brigadier Admin & Quartering SFHQ (West), Brigadier NWPSM Perera, the Centre Commandant CES, Senior Officers, Officers, Seva Vanitha Branch members, Other Ranks, as well as Retired Officers and their spouses. The presence of such a distinguished gathering underscored the significance of the event, bringing together current and former members of the CES family.
On the following day morning, the religious ceremony was concluded with the offering of the ‘Heel Daana’ to the Buddhist Monks.
The Annual Pirith Chanting Ceremony not only served as a spiritual occasion but also strengthened the bonds of unity within the CES family. It was a time for reflection, prayers, and blessings for all those who have served and continue to serve in the Corps of Engineer Services.
