In a generous display of goodwill and community solidarity, the 15 (V) ENGINEER SERVICES REGIMENT (15 (V) ESR) carried out a school bags donation programme to the school children of the soldiers of the unit on 7th December 2024.
Under the compassionate leadership of Mrs. Anupama Rathnayake, the Honorable President of the CES Seva Vanitha Branch, 15 (V) ESR initiate this event in line with 75th Corps Day Celebration programme to ease the burden on families as the new school year begins and was greatly appreciated by the recipients.
The donation programme was graced by Mrs. J P Tekla, a senior member of CES Seva Vanitha Branch as the chief guest for the occasion. A total number of 294 children from the soldiers’ families of the unit, were the delighted recipients of school bags. The participants had an informal interaction during the tea reception arranged and the Chief Guest shared her thoughts with the gathering and extends her wishes to the children for a bright future.
The event also served as a reminder of the Corps’ commitment to creating a positive work environment, where the well-being of soldiers and their families is a top priority. By contributing to the educational needs of the children, CES SVB is helping to create a brighter future for the next generation.
As the event concluded, smiles and gratitude filled the event, and the children happily walked away with their parents, ready to embark on another year of learning. Lt Col SBTP Silva, the Commanding Officer of 15 (V) ESR, Senior Officers, Officers and the Other Ranks took part in the event.
