Following the defeat of the separatists and the end to major operational commitments the RFT battalions were converted to be infantry battalions as listed below.

25th Battalion (2 RFT)    - Sri Lanka Sinha Regiment    - 20.09.2010    - Pampeimadu Camp
26th Battalion (3 RFT)   - Sri Lanka Sinha Regiment    - 20.09.2010    - Vedivettukallu Camp
27th Battalion (4 RFT)   - Sri Lanka Sinha Regiment    - 20.09.2010    - Gajasinghepura Camp
28th Battalion (1 RFT)    - Sri Lanka Sinha Regiment    - 20.09.2010    - Madu Camp

However, on 29th February 2012 the 27th, 28th and 22nd (Volunteer) Battalions were disbanded with all personnel in these battalions being posted to other existing battalions of Sri Lanka Sinha Regiment.

Presently the Regiment comprises of fifteen regular battalions and eight volunteer battalions; all of which are deployed in the field, and a Regimental Headquarters Battalion comprising of personnel of the Regiment who previously were wounded in battle and continue to carry injuries.
