On 18th July 2010, the monument honoring 13 officers and 459 other rankers of the Battalion who made the supreme sacrifice on 18th July 1996 was unveiled by then Commander Security Forces (Kilinochchi) Major General LWCBB Rajaguru RWP RSP USP Ldmc marking the 14th anniversary of the incident. A large of relatives of those who had perished on the fateful day was present at this event.

On 21st November 2010 the Battalion was relieved from Periyamadu and deployed in Kompawittakulam in Vavuniya while being placed under command to the 611 Brigade and tasked with the handling of matters relating to the resettlement of IDPs.
On 22nd January 2012, Major LD Perera RSP took over command of the Battalion.
The Battalion continues to be engaged in work related to the resettlement programme of the Government and in other development projects.
