The Sri Lanka National Guard Officers’ Training Day for the First Quarter – 2026 was successfully conducted on 11 March 2026 at the Regimental Centre, Sri Lanka National Guard with the participation of more than 100 Senior Officers and Officers.

Brigadier L Ranchagoda KSP formally assumed duties as the 12th Centre Commandant of the Sri Lanka National Guard (SLNG) on Friday, 06 March 2026, at the Regimental Centre of the Sri Lanka National Guard. Upon arrival at the Regimental Centre premises, the newly appointed Centre Commandant was accorded a Guard Turnout at the main entrance and warmly received by the Deputy Centre Commandant, Colonel K S R Ranasinghe.

The Sri Lanka National Guard (SLNG) bid farewell to Brigadier L W S R Wettasinghe, Centre Commandant, on 04 March 2026. The event paid a heartfelt tribute to his exemplary leadership, dedication and invaluable service rendered during his tenure. The formal proceedings continued with an All-Ranks Tea party, providing an opportunity for the Outgoing Centre Commandant to interact with Senior Officers, Officers and Other Ranks.

A newly constructed house was ceremonially handed over to S/107377 Private Ratnayake H.S. of the 15th Battalion Sri Lanka National Guard (15 SLNG) on 4 March 2026, in recognition of the severe financial hardships faced by the soldier due to the substantial medical expenses incurred for the continuous treatment of his 20-year-old son who is living with multiple disabilities.
