In a rare gesture, five Warrant Officers of RHQ SLNG were elevated to the prestigious appointments of four new Regimental Sergeant Majors and Regimental Drill Instructor. They had the privilege of recieving their appointment Insignia from the Commander Security Forces (East) and Colonel of the Regiment SLNG Major General HRN Fernando RSP ndc at a ceremony held at the Regimental Centre Sri Lanka National Guard on 23 May 2020.

The admin inspection of Sri Lanka National Guard was held on 20 February 2020 with the precedence of The Chief of Staff, Major General S D T Liyanage WWV RWP VSV USP ndc psc, at the Regimental Centre Sri Lanka National Guard, Wehera, Kurunegala. It was mainly focused to ensure the Regiment and all battalions are functioning as per stipulated procedures of the Sri Lanka Army and resolve of any pending issues in respective battalions of the Regiment.

The Army Inter Regiment Judo Championship - 2018 got underway in a grand scale from 25th to 30th November 2018 at the Panagoda Army Cantonment Gymnasium. Sri Lanka National Guard Judo Team also took part in the competition. It is worth noting that Sri Lanka National Guard could grab the Army Judo Title from 2002 to 2017 consecutively. Remarkably, Guardians won the Army Judo Title this year for the 17th time.
