Following initiatives taken by both Colonel of the Regiment, Sri Lanka National Guard (SLNG) and Commander of the Army and Mrs. Janaki Liyanage, Chairperson, SLNG Seva Vanitha Branch and President, Army Seva Vanitha Unit (ASVU) a new house was erected for the family of a late Sergeant of the 2 SLNG in Nawinna, Wariyapola with funds, made available by the SLNG-SVB, ASVU, donors and the SLNG Regimental HQ on Thursday (06 April).

‘Guardians' New Year fair inaugurated at proposed Regimental Headquarters on Monday (10). The fair, organized under the able leadership of Brigadier H A Keerthinatha, Centre Commandant Sri Lanka National Guard was formally opened after lighting the traditional lamp.

Not forgetful of invaluable services and sacrifices late Sergeant W.M Kumaradasa of the 10 Sri Lanka National Guard (SLNG) Regiment made on behalf of the unitary status of the country, the SLNG Regimental HQ as per directions given by the SLNG Colonel of the Regiment and Commander of the Army, Lieutenant General Vikum Liyanage added further recognition to his memory by erecting a new house for his widow and children in Kuda Kalaththewa, Anuradhapura on Saturday (8).

The funeral of Second Lieutenant YMSB Thilakarathna, platoon commander 5th Battalion Sri Lanka National Guard who passed away on Monday (09) while on of Young Officers’ Training Course at Commando Training School–UwaKudaoya took place at General Cemetery, Madiligama on Thursday (12) amidst military honours and a gathering of his close military colleagues, family members and mourners.
