The national inventions exhibition 2017 (Sahasak Nimavum 2017) organized by Sri Lanka Inventors Commission got under way on 28,29 and 30 September 2017 at the Sri Lanka Exhibition and Convention Center and S/Q109572 Warrant Officer II Nalin Kumara of 9 SLNG who produced an innovative production secured the first place at the event.

Inventions competitions were organized for the year 2017 by Research, Analysis projection and Development Branch of the Army in liaison with Security Force Headquarters in order to uplift the innovative competence of Army members.259 innovation projected by Army personal through Security Force Headquarters were favorably recognized by the Sri Lanka Inventors Commission and 26 Army inventions were presented to be on display at Sahasak Nimavum-2017 National Inventions Exhibition, which was held from 28 to 30 September 2017. Over 400 inventors had presented their inventions to the exhibition and out of those, 26 Army inventors had submitted their inventions in the Open category.

Fulfilling a long-term need in the Regimental Centre SLNG, a new parade ground was endowed for the ownership of Guardians on 17 November 2017.
