Col Comdt SLASC and the Dir Agriculture and Livestock Brigadier Indrajith Kandanaarachchi was promoted to the rank of Major General on 02 Nov 2020. Newly promoted Major General Indrajith Kandanaarachchi received insignia from the Chief of Defence Staff and Commander of the Army at the Army Commander’s office in AHQ on 03 Nov 2020.

SLASC marked another victory in the Army Athletics. SLASC Athletic team became the RUNNERS UP in the 55th ARMY ROAD RACE - 2020. SLASC also became the BEST EMERGING REGIMENT in the ARMY ROAD RACE which was awarded for the first time in the history of Army Road Race.

Waggoners’ holiday bungalow for Other Ranks which was a long felt need of SLASC was constructed in 8 SLASC camp premises. The construction of the holiday bungalow was estimated for Rs 140 lakhs. With the guidance of the Colonel Commandant SLASC and the Director Agriculture and Livestock Brigadier Indrajith Kandanarachchi and the Centre Commandant SLASC Colonel Asoka Ambanpola and with tremendous commitment of the Commanding Officer 8 SLASC Lt Col Shalutha Jayawardane psc and contribution of all ranks, the entire project was completed by Rs. 85 lakhs.

The Second Officers’ Training Day of SLASC for year 2020 was held at the RHQ SLASC on 10 September 2020 with the participation of 100 officers including the Director Agriculture & Live Stock and Colonel Commandant SLASC Brigadier Indrajith Kandanaarachchi.

As a part of the COVID 19 prevention Programme, RHQ SLASC managed a quarantine center in Pitipana. 101 Sri Lankans who came from USA, Thailand, India, Malaysia, Kenya and Doha Qatar on 24 August 2020 were quarantined for 14 days in the quarantine center managed by RHQ SLASC at "Sarasavi Medura" the hostel of Sri Jayawardanepura University in Pitipana. After 14 days of quarantine individuals received the quarantine certificates and proceeded to their homes for self-quarantine on 06 September 2020. During their stay at the quarantine center PCR tests were conducted and no one tested positive.

As part of the COVID 19 prevention Programme, RHQ SLASC managed a quarantine center in Pitipana. 153 medical students who came from Belarus on 29 June 2020 ware quarantined for 14 days in the quarantine center managed by RHQ SLASC at “Sarasavi Medura” the hostel of Sri Jayawardanepura University in Pitipana. After 14 days of quarantine all students received the quarantine certificates and proceeded to their homes for self-quarantine on 13 July 2020. During their stay at the quarantine center PCR tests were conducted and no one reported positive.

After 14 days of quarantineall students received the quarantine certificates and proceeded to their homes for self-quarantine on 06 June 2020. During their stay at the quarantine center PCR tests were conducted and no one reported positive.

Brigadier IP Kandanaarachchi, on his arrival to the Regimental Centre was welcomed by Centre Commandant Colonel EMGA Ambanpola. The newly appointed Colonel Commandant took over duties at the auspicious time amidst religious blessing with the presence of many senior officers. Later, He attended for tree planting, a tea party with all ranks followed by a Troops address at the Conference Hall at RHQ SLASC.

Brigadier BP Caldera took over office as the 15th Colonel Commandant of the Sri Lanka Army Service Corps (SLASC) in a simple military ceremony, held at Panagoda at the Regimental Headquarters on Friday (30) and the parade for the newly appointed Colonel Commandant was awarded on Wednesday 21th November 2018.
